Gateley Smithers Purslow - Fire Damage

Following an intense fire which occurred at this luxury penthouse suite in the heart of Nottingham. Johns of Nottingham were appointed by Gateley Smithers Purslow, the surveying firm looking after the insurance claim to carry out a complete reinstatement of this penthouse apartment.

The fire was caused by a boiler malfunction which spread throughout the apartment unfortunately, destroying everything along the way. Luckily nobody was involved or hurt in this awful incident. As you can see from the associated images, due to nature of the fire in the confined space, the smoke damaged the entire property throughout, meaning extensive repair works to entire apartment were necessary. The reinstatement works compromised a complete electrical rewire, supply and fitting of kitchen and bathrooms, replacement of all internal joinery throughout, bespoke tiling, flooring, plastering and decorating works. Due to the apartment being a penthouse and the internal windows were so badly damaged due to the smoke. It was in our original scope to replace the windows. However, replacing windows on a penthouse doesn’t come at a small cost…

Instead, after carrying out testing samples out on the windows and frames. Johns of Nottingham agreed a solution to hygienically clean and respray the aluminium frames with a specialist Dacrylate product and replace the glass only. The client and insurance company were delighted with the result of all the reinstatement works and the cost saving regarding the aluminium frames.
