Bonsers Restoration - Cromford Mill

Project Details

Nominated by Bonsers Restoration to undertake intumescent coating works to all exposed natural timber surfaces at Cromford Mill, Derbyshire. The mill is a world heritage site originally built to spin cotton in 1771 and subsequently purchased by the Arkwright foundation in 1979 with a view to bringing the site back to life. Following a thorough process to investigate contamination within the building, a decision was taken to use an encapsulation methodology as opposed to a decontamination process. Our remit was therefore to ensure that all timber substrates were perfectly sealed and provided the required intumescent properties. Envirograph were engaged to create a specification and their HW system fitted the brief perfectly.
