Crawford & Company - Tree Damage
Project Details
An unusual occurrence happened at this listed property where a large tree collapsed onto one of the outbuildings causing extensive structural damage. Johns of Nottingham were entrusted to not only repair the building back to its original condition, but also, work in conjunction with the local heritage and conservation department throughout the project.
Due to the time of year when this incident happened, our first goal was to make the outbuilding safe by propping the timber structure from underneath and covering the oak frame to preserve its condition over the winter months. Once spring fell upon us, reinstatement work commenced and as demonstrated from the images. Johns had to re-build the damaged brickwork using the reclaimed bricks and salvageable materials from the peril, as requested by the local council. With the brickwork completed, the scaffold was erected to start the works to the roof. This entailed repairs to the timber structure which were essential before we could felt the roof and re-tile.
On completion of the project, all parties including the local heritage and conservation department were thrilled with the work completed by Johns of Nottingham in restoring the building to its previous condition.
