Crawford & Company - Riverbank Erosion
Project Details
This unusual claim related to the erosion of a river bank to the extent that the adjacent property was left in peril. Our innovative solution was to shore up the eroded river bank with gabion baskets in order to restore the structural integrity of the affected area as can be seen in the associated image. A structural survey was required to calculate the correct strengthening dimensions necessary to install the baskets to their most efficient configuration. The claim was further complicated upon the discovery of Japanese Knotweed on the site. Removal of this plant is notoriously difficult, a full ecological survey was required to ensure no further contamination occurred. Ultimately the property was protected from water ingress for years to come.
